Southern States Director

Title: Southern States Director

Reports to: Deputy National Director

Location: Miami preferred, will consider highly qualified candidates living in South Florida or elsewhere in southern United States

Background

Through our tiered programs and training, volunteers learn to identify threats and proactively safeguard their synagogues, institutions, and events. We have trained over 5,000 volunteers across denominations and regions in the United States on situational awareness and operational security.

Position

The Southern States Director will lead the development and implementation of CSS’ southern states expansion strategy. Reporting to the Deputy National Director/COO, the Director will either have a deep familiarity with Jewish institutions and synagogues across the region, or have experience in security/law enforcement or leadership development. The Director will be the primary regional representative for CSS, and should be proactive at building and maintaining high-level relationships, a persuasive communicator, and have a visionary perspective of how to grow CSS in the region. The Director will manage an Associate Director, to be hired. We are looking for an individual who shares a passion for CSS’ mission, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CSS’ southern states expansion strategy
  • Build and cultivate relationships with synagogues and Jewish institutions throughout the southern United States
  • Establish CSS as the preeminent volunteer security organization in the region
  • Build and maintain meaningful partnerships with Jewish organizations across the region
  • Manage Associate Director, who will assist in implementing expansion strategy
  • Collaborate with CSS Directors nationwide on creating programmatic opportunities and member engagement strategies
  • Utilize success metrics for southern states region, and evaluate effectiveness of expansion strategy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in nonprofit, program development, civic engagement, organizational or community capacity building, synagogue administration, or other relevant field OR security/law enforcement OR leadership development
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Experience building meaningful partnerships with community groups
  • Strong familiarity with Florida/ southern region Jewish institutions and synagogues
  • Ability to persuasively and succinctly explain organizational programming
  • Ability to be proactive with minimal supervision
  • Strong familiarity with Google suite software
  • Interest in volunteer security
  • Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality

Must live in the southern United States, with a strong preference for Miami, and must be eligible to work in the US. Northeastern States Associate Director

CSS is seeking to hire a Northeastern States Associate Director. This full-time role will be a key partner in implementing CSS’ northeastern states expansion strategy. The Associate Director will have a familiarity with Jewish institutions and synagogues across the region, and will be proactive at building and maintaining relationships. We are looking for an individual who shares a passion for CSS’ mission, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and cultivate relationships with synagogues and Jewish institutions throughout the northeastern United States
  • Collaborate with partner organizations, as well as federal, state and local law enforcement
  • Develop and implement strategies that will maximize CSS’ programmatic implementation

Qualifications

  • Experience building connections with community groups
  • Strong familiarity with the region’s Jewish institutions and synagogues
  • Ability to succinctly explain organizational programming
  • Ability to be proactive with minimal supervision
  • Strong familiarity with Google suite software

Associate Director of Security

Position

CSS is offering a full-time opportunity to support the organization’s Director of Security. We seek an ambitious and creative project manager to support the organization’s security and operations in a number of areas. The Associate Director of Security should be comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for an individual who shares a passion for CSS’ mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support backend and volunteer operations
  • Anticipate light technical issues that arise in our system’s backend and work to resolve them
  • Assist Director of Security in organization-wide development projects
  • Assist Director of Security in national intelligence efforts
  • Support CSS National HQ in its overall mission
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university, with coursework in criminal justice political science, public administration or a related field is preferred
  • 5+ years experience in security, national security, law enforcement, or security-related work, preferably with management experience
  • Excellent communication and program management skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a persistence to see issues resolved
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, oral, and written skills
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Associate Director of Training

Position

CSS is looking for a full-time Associate Director of Training to support the organization’s training efforts. The Associate Director of Training is responsible for supporting the development and execution of innovative and engaging security-related training initiatives for the organization, and advancing CSS’ capacity-building goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the curriculum development of security training strategies that includes digital, virtual, and in-person trainings, across the US
  • Lead training sessions and/or courses for security teams
  • Support a positive organizational culture experience for all volunteers, by maintaining strong relationships with regional volunteers
  • Continually assess organization’s training efforts using a variety of success metrics, and report training effectiveness
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years experience in training management or learning and development
  • 5+ years experience in security, national security, law enforcement, or related, preferably with management experience
  • Instructional design experience, including content development, delivery, program evaluation, across a variety of platforms
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and dependability
  • Microsoft Office and Google Workspace proficiency
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism
  • Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality

Program and Operations Associate

Title: Program and Operations Associate

Position

The Program and Operations Associate will be responsible for supporting the Programs staff in data entry, administrative, and a variety of operational tasks. The associate will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and be able to manage multiple deadlines. We are looking for an individual who shares a passion for our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update database
  • Prepare materials for trainings (including but not limited to marketing materials, Zoom calls, editing files)
  • Assist in creating slide decks
  • Work closely with the Director and Senior Associate Director of Programs to ensure a smooth operation of the department
  • Support the Programs department operations in responding to requests in a timely manner
  • Pull reports from CRM to support CSS staff needs

Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience
  • Experience/ willingness to learn using CRM software
  • Experience / comfort with basic use of online design software like Canva and Zoom
  • Familiarity with Google suite software
  • Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality
